Failure comes just before you get up.

“You may have a fresh start any moment you choose, for this thing we call ‘failure’ is not the falling down, but the staying down.” ~Mary Pickford

A follower might try a few things, and fail in all of them.  At some point they’ll stop trying, and say something about Einstein ‘s quote regarding the definition of insanity (doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different result).  They’ll settle into “the way it always has been” and ho-hum their way through life, work, or play, never again challenging the status quo.

A leader who really wants to succeed will look at each failure as an opportunity to learn something, and improve the process.  They’ll have the guts to believe that their goal is worthy of occasional losses, because their vision for the new world (work, home, play, whatever) is worth a few bruises, and some losses.  Their passion tells them that they’ll figure it out, and when they do it’ll be fan-darn-tastic!  Perseverance and an un-relenting vision toward the end game will get them there, and then they’ll show the followers how to do it, cementing their leadership role.

Speaking of fresh…
