Failing in the neighborhood of “way out there”

10 02 2016

“In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count.  It’s the life in your years.” ~ Abraham Lincoln

Well said, by an epic man who lived only 56 years, yet is immortalized both in history and on Mount Rushmore.  Honest Abe has quite the legacy, and most people, even if they lived twice as long wouldn’t have half the accomplishments to their name.

Leaders, pack as much genuine passion for life as you can into your workday.  A positive, engaged attitude is contagious, and will motivate your team.  Create BHAG’s (Big, Hairy, Awesome Goals), and strive for them.  There’s a marksmanship trick that applies to many goals, too.  When aiming a precision tool (darts, arrows, guns) at a target you don’t aim for the target, you aim for a tiny spot on the target.  Aim small, miss small.  Set those goals way out there, and even if you don’t attain the goal, you’re still in the neighborhood of way out there.

Speaking of years…
