Read twice, send once.

“The pen is the tongue of the mind.” ~ Horace

I guess in the electronic age, keyboards are now the tongue of the mind.  We can say the same words and convey the same thoughts to a group of people all over the country.  We can convey abstract thoughts on leadership through our words, and we can be misunderstood.  An e-mailed “suggestion”, or crazy idea can be misinterpreted as an order, causing a lot of work and effort to be done when it wasn’t meant to be more than a musing.

Leaders, remember that your words have power, so wield them gently.  Use them to teach and share ideas, but (like I do with every comic), read them at least twice, ensure that your point is being delivered succinctly and appropriately, and let technology do the rest.

Speaking of tongues…
