Taking your team from B to A

30 08 2016

“I am not afraid of an army of lions led by a sheep; I am afraid of an army of sheep led by a lion.” ~ Alexander the Great

Alexander is talking about the power of a strong leader, no matter how strong the team he has with him.  Of course, any leader would like a strong team, but some inherit less-than-stellar ones.  A solid vision, a motivational speaking style, and a supportive, but firm nature can do wonders with a team that isn’t an A-Team.

That said, a transformative leader can take a B-team, and turn it into an A-team with the right mix of the strengths mentioned above.  There are few things more rewarding than taking an un-motivated, non-engaged team, and spending several months with them.  When you get to the end, and they are the cream of the crop, you can take a moment to pat yourself on the back, leader!  It’s an accomplishment worth celebrating, and a goal worth working towards.

Speaking of sheep…
