Keeping the workplace full (of laughter AND people)

14 10 2016

“A person without a sense of humor is like a wagon without springs.  It’s jolted by every pebble on the road.” ~ Henry Ward Beecher

I can’t imagine a home or workplace where you can’t laugh.  There’s so much that happens that is ironic, weird, counter-intuitive, or even tragic, that if you can’t laugh at would drive you crazy.  I try to find the humor in as many situations as possible, and share the humor, so that others can laugh at what’s going on.  That doesn’t mean we don’t take life and work seriously, but laughing sure does make the day go by.

Leaders, keep that in mind when someone brings you a challenge. Of course you want to treat their issue with the sincerity it deserves, but try to keep it light, and help them find the humor in it.  A workplace full of laughter is more likely to stay full of employees, too!  All else being equal, laughs make any day so much easier to get through.

Speaking of wagons…
